About Me

My 'obsession' as it's been called in the past must surely come from my Father (deceased) who seemed to change his cars more often than the occurence of another calendar month beginning. Ok not quite that often but you get the picture...& it's not really an obsession either!

How many cars have I had in my life to date? No idea... but I'm changing them less as the years roll on!
What have I had more of , Cars or Motorbikes? Again, no idea. Ok, let's just say probably over 100 between them both. I know, madness, but maybe you've had more dinners than me or maybe more partners, but whatever we've had more of than somebody else it can't be denied that it has to be more of something.
See, I get bored very quickly with what I call mundane vehicles & UJMs' (Universal Japanese Motorcycles).
However, my Land Rover is different.
I feel differently about owning a Land Rover over any other car I've owned & if you really have to ask then you probably wouldn't understand.
The Land Rover marque I would describe as very much like owning a Motorcycle in so much as Land Rovers too get under the skin.

My first love (vehicular) has always been the Motorbikes but my months of riding are getting less each year due to the onset of osteo-arthritis & an industrial injury in 2008 which has resulted in the bones & muscles protesting with a distinct lack of willingness to function happily in the colder weather.
I have been in mechanical engineering for some 30 odd years and would like nothing more than to move to the South of France & lap up the warmer climate. Also to have a nice home with a barn & a workshop with a proper Lathe & Milling machine as opposed to a hobby Lathe in the back garden under the open front & sides 'bike port'! A place where I could keep all the bikes I haven't got, the 2 door Range Rover I dream of & various other vehicles. Anyway, the Lottery is for another day!

I am quite late in life at getting to travel abroad but since meeting Jo (my partner, & some say better half) & taking our first overseas holiday in Amsterdam, I haven't looked back. I now relish the idea of getting away from Ol' Blighty as often as possible with a long term plan of eventually living abroad. A cottage industry really appeals to me.
I like most things that have a mechanical connection in some form or another & have in fact developed my own Clutch Removal Tool for the Moto Guzzi Big Twins. That reminds me, I need to build up some more stock!

Ok, that's a little about me & so I'll leave the rest up to you to have a look at my website (if you're still here) & hopefully you will find some points of interest within the pages of discoverytd5.com
